Stvarni
     atentatori bili su braća Radovanović.

                                                        Abstract:

Mihailo Obrenović (1823-1868) was born in Kragujevac, as a younger son of father Miloš and

mother Ljubica. He ruled Serbia twice. He acceded to the throne after his brother's death in 1839, but
he vacated three years later and emigrated after the mutiny led by Toma Vuĉić-Perišić, one of the
most prominent constitution defenders. Mihailo married Julia Hunjadi, a Hungarian countess. He
came back to Serbia with his father Miloš in 1858. After his father's death in 1860. he acceded to the
throne again. There is no doubt that Mihailo was the most educated Serbian ruler in the XIX century.
He was the author of one of the most popular songs ˝Što se bore misli moje˝. He showed his love for
litterature helping other writers to publish their work. Vuk St. Karadţić, Branko Radiĉević and Đuro
Daniĉić appreciated his kindness. He managed to create not only a modern European state, but the
greatest military force in the Balkans. There was the liberation from Ottoman occupation during his
reign. The development of Serbia as a state and a military force was disruppted by the assassination
of him in 1868. According to the European press, his alleged illegitimate son, the defence minister
Milivoje Blaznavac was accused of assessination. The real assassinators were brothers Radovanović,
who were avenging for their brother's death.
