ODREĐIVANJE NIKOTINA U KOSI PUŠAĈA
                                NICOTINE DETERMINATION IN HAIR OF SMOKERS

                                                         REZIME

                      Cilj ovog rada jeste odreĎivanje prisustva  nikotina u kosi pušača,  budući da je nikotin
               dobro  poznat  indikator    za  kontrolisanje  dugog  izlaganja  duvanskom  dimu  iz  okoline  i
               utvrĎivanja  stastusa  aktivnih  pušača.  Nikotin  nije  bilo  moguće  odrediti  kvantitativno,  jer  nije
               korišćen  interni  standard  neophodan  za  precizno  odreĎivanje  koncentracije  nikotina  u  kosi,
               validaciju  uzoraka  i  kontrolu  kvaliteta.    UraĎen  je    test  na  nikotin  iz  kose,  koji    obuhvata
               sakupljanje uzoraka, alkalnu digestiju, ekstrakciju uzorka i intrumentalno merenje pomoću gasne
               hromatografije-masene  spektrometrije  (GH/MS).  Dokazano  je  prisustvo  nikotina  u  kosi,  ali  je
               nikotin naĎen u tragovima. UtvrĎeno je da su površine GH signala ili pikova nikotina u korelaciji
               sa brojem cigareta koje davaoci uzoraka kose u proseku dnevno puše.

                                                        SUMMARY


                      The aim for this study was determination of nicotine in smokers’ hair, whereas nicotine is
               a well-known indicator for monitoring long-term exposure to environmental tobacco smoke and
               for maintaining active smokers’ status. Quantitation of nicotine in hair was impossible, because
               we  didn’t  use  internal  standard  that  is  needed  for  precisely  determination  of  hair  nicotine
               concentration,  validation  of  samples,  and  quality  control.  Hair  nicotine  assay  was  performed,
               including collecting samples, alkaline digestion, extraction of nicotine and experimental method
               of gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC/MS). Present of nicotine in hair was proved, but
               nicotine was found only in traces. It was determined that the areas of chromatogram peaks are in
               correlation with the number of cigarettes smoked daily by smokers who gave their samples of
               hair.
