DIFFERENCES BETWEEN SOCIAL AND STATE SYSTEM OF SPARTA AND
ATHENS

Rezime

Sparta i Atina, dve najdominantnije sile medju svim helenskim polisima, su bili večiti rivali. Oduvek su se
borili za prevlast nad grčkim polisima.

Veoma su se razlikovali; Spartanci kao neustrašivi ratnici, spremni u svakom trenutku za borbu, Atinjani
kao nepobedivi moreplovci. Takodje je veoma poznato da su spartanci daleko više disciplinovani od
Atinjana, jer je Spartancima glavni posao bio borba, isto tako zanmo da su Atinjani bili mnogo bolji
političari od Spartanaca, zbog ogromnog interesovanja za tim. Nemogude je razlikovati ih samo u jednoj
disciplini, ali mogu u državnom i društvenom uredjenju.

Summary

Sparta and Athens, the two most dominant forces among all Hellenic poleis, were fierce rivals. They
always fought for dominance over the Greek poleis.

They varied a lot; Spartans as a fearless warriors, ready to fight at any time, the Athenians as invincible
sailors. It is also very well known that the Spartans were far more disciplined than the Athenians because
their main job was to fight, but we also know that the Athenians were much better politicians than the
Spartans, due to enormous interest in it. It is impossible to distinguish them only in one category, but it
can be done in the state and social system.
